Here are some FAQ's to hopefully help you along your way. Hover over each one for their answer.
I don't live in Stornoway, can you be my wedding photographer?
Absolutely! Anywhere within a 60 mile radius of either has all travel costs covered in the packages. As I'm travelling between the two places anyway, I can work all throughout Scotland.
I'm not having a large wedding or I'm on a budget, are there flexible packages?
We have two packages actually, starting from £500 for a half day. All packages are guides and what we would aim to achieve in each, but your budget and needs from us on your day are our priority and we would always discuss and try accommodate any packages to suit you.
How do we book you as our wedding photographer?
First thing to do is email. I can send you out our packages and prices, terms and a booking form. Ideally we would then have a sit down to discuss everything. After that you would complete the booking form and pay the 25% deposit securing your wedding date. Once I have both I will send a confirmation and photography schedule.
Are there extra costs?
We like to be completely transparent and honest with everyone. There are no hidden costs in any packages and any additional costs or amendments would be discussed with the client before going ahead. When additional costs are involved, it would be for wedding albums, prints, engagements shoots, etc and when traveling out-with the 60 miles of Stornoway or Aberdeen involving travel and accommodation costs.
What deposits are required and what is your payment schedule like?
All wedding bookings require a 25% deposit with the remaining balanced due no later than two weeks before the wedding date. All other bookings require a 50% deposit and the remaining balance due before images can be released
Do I have to order my album right away?
You do not have to decide on your album right away. You can add it on after the wedding and pay for it then, or decide on the album as part of your package once you have received your completed images. I will put a draft album together first for you to review and any amendments can be discussed. Turn around time for a completed album would be an additional 4-8 weeks.
How long can we expect to wait for our completed images?
For wedding photography you can expect 4 - 8 weeks for completed images to be online and presented to you on your USB. Family and portrait session you can expect 2 - 4 weeks for completed images to be online and presented to you on your USB.
What equipment do you use and is there back up equipment?
I shoot with Canon and use their most professional grade camera and lenses. You can guarantee a pin sharp image of the highest quality. Other equipment may include flashes and a tripod or where applicable in portrait photography, props and backdrops. There will always be a back up camera available and images are saved to two memory cards.
I've had to cancel, can I have my deposit back?
Unfortunately not. The deposit ensures that I secure your date exclusively for you and once the booking form has been signed, I turn away all other work enquiries for that day. In some circumstances we would consider transferring the deposit over to a new date
Do you edit your photographs?
Yes, its just as much of the process and a part of the art as taking the image. I have a real pride in being able to deliver images that have been carefully selected and edited one by one to correct any imperfections prior to delivery. I only ever enhanced my photographs to best bring them and their subjects out.
Can we supply you with a list of photographs and poses to take?
Working off a checklist takes away from the reason you hired me. It is counter productive and can result in missing the real time shots as they happen and the candid moments. Any special request photos, specific group shots, etc will be discussed at the sit down prior to the wedding.
What happens if something out with my control affects my booking?
We will do our very best to accommodate any changes outwith your/our control and try to reschedule. We can't be to blame for the weather or other vendors. Where and when possible we would transfer the booking to an alternative date or if this is not possible, a refund of monies paid up to that point will be issued. If travel and accommodation have had to be booked for myself and these are non refundable, it is unfortunate that we will not be able to grant you those monies back.
